BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball guard Josh Anderson will opt to use
his available extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and return to
the program as a fifth-year senior.
“First off, I would really like to thank my family and fans in Hilltopper Nation for
the love and support over the years,” Anderson said. “I would also like to thank
every last one of my coaches, staff, and teammates from the past years for
everything we worked through. With that being said, I have decided to come back to
school for a fifth year to finish getting my degree, and also, to compete for a
championship trophy. I’m looking forward to the summer workouts with the team and
can’t wait to see the real Diddle Arena again for one final season. GO Tops!!”
Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound native of Baton Rouge, La., has been a staple in the
Hilltopper lineup for the past four seasons.
He finished the 2020-21 campaign ranked 36th in program history with 1,136 career
points, as well as fifth in career steals with 167.
Anderson started 26 of 27 games in which he played last year, averaging 9.3 points,
3.9 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.1 assists in 28.2 minutes per contest. He shot 84%
from the free-throw line, 45.6% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc.
The high-flying guard joined forces with teammate Charles Bassey to be the top
dunking duo in the nation with 92 slams between the pair.
Anderson also made his presence known on the other end of the court as a member of
the Conference USA All-Defensive Team.
Across his entire college career, Anderson has played more than 3,000 minutes with
the Hilltoppers and appeared in 114 games with 73 starts.
